School closes Cannibal musical play

Staff at an Arizona school have pulled a student play after deciding that — despite cuts — the production was too violent and vulgar to be performed in front of the community.
Students at Ironwood Ridge High School in Tuscon were told that the production of Cannibal! The Musical was cancelled and would be replaced with another show. Student director Zachary Singer said had tried to make it “more appropriate” for a high school audience, which included editing out profanities and finding ways to artistically present violent scenes.
