ACTRA Members rally for homegrown product

A group of Canadian celebrities turned out to raise the alarm for cultural sovereignty and to call on the party that wins the Jan. 23 federal election to wave the flag.
Members of ACTRA, Canada’s largest actors union, including Wendy Crewson, Colin Mochrie, Cara Pifko, Sonja Smits, Julie Stewart and RH Thomson, appeared at a Wednesday press conference in Toronto and complained of a decline in Canuck drama programming, a lack of homegrown films as well as the “alarming potential for foreign ownership of Canadian airwaves.”
