Dreaming of Algonquin

Been pretty busy this week, catching up on the work I missed while on vacation. I know it was only two days, but I was swamped with emails and critical issues while I was gone. I had about 60 emails in my inbox when I logged in on Wednesday. Pretty crazy, no?
I really miss Algonquin, even though I was only there for about 48 hours, and I was swarmed by every kind of flying insect local to central Ontario. I can’t wait to go back, and canoe into the interior. I even bought some trail maps and camp cookbooks, including this one terrific book that deals with dehydrating food for long trips. It’s “Trail Food” by Alan S. Kesselheim. The author spends years at a time in the wilderness, with only his stores of dried food and jerky. If you ask me, a year is far too long to be in the wilderness, but he got me thinking about it, nonetheless.
Really like to try some kayaking too, maybe sign up for a lesson at the portage store. I’m not really a stunt-kayaking kind of person, but who knows?
